How to use Twitter for sales and grow your business
A lot of our clients ask us how they can use Twitter for more than just brand awareness, advertising and connecting with their customers. Today we’ve got some great news with the broad release of Twitter’s ‘Buy’ button.
Last year, Twitter began testing the ‘Buy’ button for select retailers like Burberry and American giant The Home Depot. As of last week, Twitter has made this available to all businesses, large and small which means you can now generate direct and measurable revenue from Twitter.
Here’s an example of how it looks.
How is this different from selling on Facebook and other social networks?
When asked how Twitter’s commerce potential compares to social networks like Facebook and Pinterest, Nathan Hubbard, head of commerce at Twitter emphasized two differentiators:
- the presence of “influencers” on the social network who can drive users to make purchases and
- the fact that Twitter is a truly real-time service.
How you can take advantage of this for your business?
Using brand’s influencers to drive sales.
What’s an influencer? Basically anyone who can well influence others to take a positive action for your business. Examples could be:
- satisfied customers
- media and bloggers
- associations you’re a member of
- experts in your field who you have a relationship with
If they are willing to share your Tweet, you can expose your message to a wider audience who are likely to listen to your influencers suggestion.
Leveraging Twitter’s Real Time benefits.
Given that Twitter is about real time communication, a great way to benefit is to create flash sales. Short run, limited stock sales that drive a sense of urgency are a way to drive sales from customers who don’t want to miss out on a great deal.
